Press Release Body = A recent defaulters situation in the Ahmedabad market has
brought the city\'s IT market in the lime light and the situation has caused chaos in
the channel community bringing few issues up again that have been lately calling for
proper attention from the market.

Three main culprit channel partners Kalpesh Purohit, Raju Purohit and Vikas, who
were running their business for the last six months under the name of \'Apple
Infosys', have been found guilty for fraud amounting Rs. 25 Lakhs in Ahmedabad IT
market. The trio suddenly in two days purchased PCs and peripherals from different
channel partners in Ahmedabad, making PDC payments to them and absconded with the
material leaving behind their empty rented office .The cheques bounced for lack of
sufficient funds and their whereabouts are not yet known ,Understanding the whole
situation the dealers realized that they have been cheated and immediately filed a
police FIR against the two defaulters. The complete incidence took place a week
back.

Around 20 channel partners have been affected due to this fraud including
distributors, sub and dealers. Loses suffered ranges from Rs. 25,000 to Rs.1.5 lakh.

Speaking to it VAR news, Vice President and Media Spokesperson, ACMA (Ahmedabad
Computer Merchants Association), Kaushik Pandya said, \"The association intervened as
soon as it came to know that such type of matter has arisen and so many dealers
including association members and non-members have been affected by the crime.\"

He added that the association is ensuring that a complete follow up of the case is
done and they are open to any kind of help related to the matter. Pandya informed
that the three defaulters were trying to transport the material from their residence
to the railway station in rickshaws but there is an Octroi Naka on the route and the
material was seized by the Octroi Authority there, as they demanded the Octroi tax
on these goods. The material is lying with Octroi Authority right now.

A new situation has arisen now because the police are asking the Octroi authorities
to release the material and hand it over to them as it is no more a non-tax payee
case but has become a criminal case. So, the tug of war is on between the two but
the decision will be taken soon within a day or two. Once the material will be
released from Octroi Authorities, a complete estimation can be made how much
material is there and what is the cost of the same. However, the two defaulters are
still missing and police is searching for them.

When asked what steps the association is taking to avoid such incidences in future,
Pandya answered, \"We are definitely concentrating more on such issues now and plan
to formulate certain guidelines like reducing the amount of credits to a certain
extent so that even if such kind of situation arises at least the person will suffer
least loses, as our business is highly credit based and it can be very difficult to
do business and grow if we don\'t provide credits. A system can be established in
which one can only do business with the association members. We may hire an outside
agency to gather all the personal and professional information of the channel
partners and out of them credits will be given to only those who satisfy all the
terms and conditions to be fulfilled in order to apply for credits.\"
